The Highs and Lows of 2007

1. The loss of my friend Gina. This hit me really hard. I hadn't talked to her in a couple months prior to her death, and regret that more than anything. Gina & I had been friends for 15 years, and I still want to give her a call to chat about Days, football & everyday life. I have been blessed with having her visit me in my dreams, but just wish I would have had the chance to say goodbye!
2. The birth of Bradyn Michael. What a beautiful baby. I am so blessed to have two healthy boys!
3. The birth of Hollyn Jessica. My sister, Jessica had baby #3 and she is an adorable girl!
4. Difficult pregnancy. I wass off work for 4-5 months due to pregnancy complications! That has been financially challenging, but worth it!
5. Brady's Dad is doing well. Bill was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney cancer in 2006, but is responding well to his chemo and there is no cancer growth--YEAH!
6. The loss of Brady's grandparents. Clarence & Katie Becker both passed away this summer, and that has been hard for the family!
7. The loss of my dog, Benny. My little chihuahua had to be put to sleep, and I still miss the little booger!
8. Lots of improvements to our house. We now have central heat & air, and have remodeled the 2nd bedroom upstairs, and have new carpet upstairs! It has been awesome!
9. Broken Brady. Brady has had lots of back problems, so has been somewhat grouchy.
10. Jaxon rurned 1. He is so much fun as he grow & changes. We laugh often. A dsy with Jaxon is never dull, he loves to entertain and make us laugh!
11. My friend Carol got married. Carol & Norm are very happy and have waited a long time for this much deserved wedded bliss!
12. The Ice Storm. We had a massive ice storm and were without power fo over a week!
13. Nieces & Nephews. I have the greatest nieces & nephews in the world and spending time with them is always the best!
14. My best friend Jill. She is always a "high" point in my life. We continue to be close & have lots in common!
15. My sis. She is my other best friend. I cherish this relationship, and love time spend talking with her or hanging out at my house or hers!
16. My family. I love all of my family & cherish them so much! When you are down & out, like I was on bedrest, you realize just how good your family is. My family was there to help us in so many ways!

My Rant!

My youngest son is already 5 days old! The month prior to his arrival was very challenging, but it is definitely worth it. I hope I never have to go through what I did in the month prior to his delivery. I was on activity restrictions for 3 weeks, and strict bedrest for a week and had to tolerate some pretty challenging situations. I am thankful for my independence. I learned just how hard it is to be physically dependent on somebody else to do day-to-day tasks for you, especially when they don't follow through for you. I always thought I was pretty understanding when it came to things like this, but I now know just how hard it is to have to ask people to do things for you, and then to have them joke about having to do stuff for you. It isn't funny. It is hard enough to ask! The other hard thing is to watch your house fall apart and become a total mess while you are not supposed to do anything about it--that drove me beyond crazy! I am thankful that is all over, and I am back to being able to do things for myself!! It is crazy, but I am thankful to be able to clean my own house, and do my own dishes & laundry!!! Life is good!

You Know a Lot About Christmas

You got 7/10 correct

You know tons about the history and traditions surrounding Christmas.

When you celebrate the holidays, you never forget their true meaning - or all the little fun details.

Random Christmas fact: Only 21% of US households has a real Christmas tree each year.

What The Holidays Mean to You

For you, the holidays are about celebration. You enjoy all the fun and fellowship that the holidays bring.

You celebrate the holidays in a minimalist style. You are likely to only give one great present and decorate your house with a few special items.

During the holidays, you like to feel cozy and comfortable. You're happy to stay inside with a roaring fire and a warm drink.

You think the holidays should be energetic and packed with activities. You'll double up on caffeine and sugar if that's what it takes to get you through them.

Your favorite holiday memories strongly evoke your senses. You are vividly aware of all the tastes, smells, and sounds of the holidays.

Going Crazy!

I am now on strict bedrest, and am already going crazy! I knew something was wrong this morning, because of how I was feeling. I called Brady & we went to town to get my blood pressure checked, and it was the highest it has been. We called my doctor, who ordered lots of tests. All came back fine, but she decided that it was time for strict bedrest. That means that I am to be on the couch, in the recliner or in bed at all times. I was on restriction, which meant that I wasnt' to do a lot of walking, or anything strenuous, but I was still able to care for Jaxon and do some basic picking up around here. Now, that is all over. I am not even supposed to be on the stairs and she said I am not even able to make a sandwich for myself. It has been less than 12 hours, and I know I am going to go CRAZY! My doctor said we will have a baby at 38 weeks, which means that I have less than a week on bedrest. That is a good thing, because I am not liking this. My son went to Grandma's to spend the night, and will be spending the day with Brady's cousin tomorrow. I do not like this, and decided that the reason for all the problems is that this baby is named after Brady, and is already starting to be a pain to be like his namesake LOL.

Brady's Buck

Brady wanted me to put these pictures of his buck on the web for all to see. I am glad that he is happy and excited about it. My idea of shooting a deer is with a camera. We are different in that respect. Just wanted the readers of my blog to know how I feel about it (ick).

Dumbledore Gay?!

I have been thinking about this information all day, and would like to share some of my thoughts! First of all, I must make it clear that it doesn't change the way I feel about the character. Why would it? I still think he is THE kewlist!! It is shocking, kinda like when you find out a secret about somebody you thought you knew really well! At first, I thought "NO WAY" , he doesn't seem gay to me. I did give it some further thought, and decided that I could accept it, and in my mind compared him to Nate from the Oprah show. Another gay man, who I think is awesome, and in some ways like Dumbledore. The only obvious difference is Nate is HOT!

I have always wondered if Dumbledore had a thing with Madam Pomfrey, Professor McGonnagal or both. Now, I know I was way off. If J.K. Rowling would have said Professor Slughorn was gay, I would have said, "I can see that", but it is a little harder for me to see Professor Dumbledore as gay! What do you think??? Leave a comment!!!

Situation Sunday on . . Thursday

Situation #1
A person you have known many years growing up and that you were close to at one time. Has moved away for like 20 years, and always kept in contact with your younger sibling. Last year you ran into them at a local store. They tell you that they are moving home and going through a divorce,, and to please call and get together. You call and their Mother answers and says they are not here, and you hear them in the background. Many months have passed and you are at your siblings home and they show up, and act like nothing has happened. They ask for your number. Do you give it, and how do you act and feel now towards this person?

Absolutely not! People like that drive me crazy, and I wouldn't feed into their pathetic lies!

Situation #2
You awake one day and for some strange reason, you now have memory loss, amnesia. Every one around you tries to help, but clearly you do not know them or trust them. Your supposedly spouse is very supportive, but you think how the Hell could I have married them.....you have no children......What do you do?

I would take some time to spend by myself, with photos and memories of my past life. I would then go back to see if I could remember or if I could handle my life without memory.

Situation #3
You come home early from work one day, and you catch your spouse in your bed with the hired help. What do you do?

I would take the crazy bitch's clothes into the bathroom and soak them in the toilet and then bring them to her and order her OUT of my house! I would then demand that my husband pack a bag and get the hell out too!

December 20, 2007

I am getting the coolest early Christmas present this year! I went to my first O.B appointment this week, and we decided on an Induction date already!! I Love it! After she heard about how quickly my labor progressed with Jaxon, she asked if I was up for an induction--and of course I said YES!

I have the best doctor in the world! She is friendly, sincere, and very cautious. I had some spotting, and found out there was bleeding behind the placenta. My doctor has been on top of the situation, with lifting restrictions, and frequest ultrasounds to make sure things are ok! I havent' been able to work for 2 1/2 weeks, and won't be able to work until at least the first week in July. It is challenging to follow the lifting restrictions, and I am looking forward to having a paycheck again soon, but am willing to do whatever it takes to protect this baby!

Nudity/Body Awareness aka "How comfortable are you in your skin, or with others?

"Have you ever gone skinny-dipping? yes, in private settings

When you're home alone, do you strip down to get comfortable? Do you ever go out without underwear (bra and/or panties) because it's more comfortable? I like to be dressed!

Have you ever/Do you use the bathroom with the door open? Are you comfortable using public facilities? I rarely shut the door--only when we have guests! I don' have a problem with public restrooms but I hate port-a-pottys!

When getting intimate with your significant other, lights on or off? for me to know!

How comfortable are you with body exposure/nudity of others? Group shower rooms?, topless/nude beaches?, breastfeeding in public?I hated group showers, but breastfeeding in public is a different story. I would hardly classify it as nudity, as women are usually very discreet and only those intent on seeing the breast get a peek! I am a huge breastfeeding advocate and am thankful that the state of Kansas gives breastfeeding mothers the legal right to breastfeed anywhere!

You Are Most Like Bill Clinton

No doubt, your legacy may be a little seedier than you'd like.
But even though you've done some questionable things, you're still loved by almost all.
Surprisingly, I really like Bill Clinton! I wasn't too impressed with him when he was president, but he has done some really good things since then. I have also read part of his book. He has earned a lot of respect from me!

Mellow Me!

Your Brain is Blue

Of all the brain types, yours is the most mellow.
You tend to be in a meditative state most of the time. You don't try to think away your troubles.
Your thoughts are realistic, fresh, and honest. You truly see things as how they are.

You tend to spend a lot of time thinking about your friends, your surroundings, and your life.
I got this from Dawn's blog! It is pretty neat, but only partially true. I definitely don't see myself as mellow, but the rest of it is pretty accurate! Try it!

Books!

My friend, Dawn, has been reading a book a month, and then writes about these books on her blog. That is a great idea, but it doesn't work for me. I am stuck in a bizarre pattern, and don't know why! When I find a book I like, I HAVE to read it over and over. I read the "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" and the 3 sequels, and then read them all again 2 times. After that, I read Jude Deveroux's "A Knight in Shining Armor" and have read it twice, and have the compulsion to read it again. I have also done this with the Harry Potter books, and the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon. I find this behavior a little bit odd, and wonder why I feel the need to read and re-read books over and over again! Any ideas???

Scared!

I have faced death before, but now that I have Jaxon, any possible threats to my life are a thousand times more horrifying. I may be over-reacting, but then again, maybe not! Wednesday afternoon, I collapsed while getting ready to go out for Valentines day. Brady gave me a hug (and not a bear hug) and the next thing I knew, he was calling my name, and I felt like I was waking from a deep sleep. I had fallen to the ground and was totally out for about 10 seconds. We went to the clinic, and the only thing that showed up was low blood pressure. I continue to have symptoms of low blood pressure, and am getting worried! It may be exhaustion, but could also be something more serious, like a brain tumor. I am not allowed to work or drive until I see the Doctor again. I hope it is nothing!!!

I am scared that I will miss out on seeing my precious little boy grow into a man. I have waited so long to have this little guy, and now there is a chance that I may miss out on all of his important life moments. I want to see him walk, start school, graduate, and all the little things in between. I have so many things I want to teach him. I want him to know that he is enough, and that there is somebody in this world who loves him for him, and not for his accomplishments. I want him to know the importance of spreading joy to everybody you meet. I also want to spend lots of time laughing and loving him. I hope that I get that chance. These last couple of days with him have been even more special to me, and I didn't ever think that was possible. I cherish all the time I get with my incredible little boy, and all I want is to share in his life . . for a very long time!

Friday Five

The Colors in the Wheel [1]

1. If you were a crayon, which color would you want to be? Sunshine Yellow

2. Which color do you think you would be regardless of what you wanted? Red

3. Would you rather be used and get blunt, broken and lose your wrapper, or not be used and stay pristine? Used, blunt, broken and naked (lost wrapper). I would rather be used, because things that are truly loved always show wear & tear!

4. Would you rather be in a small set of crayons or a large set? I would want to be the big box, because the possibilities are endless with all those colors!

5. Would you rather be Crayola, or a different brand? Definately Crayola

Harry Potter Fans

What are your plans for July 21, 2007?? Mine are to buy & read the book! It will be so exciting, but sad all at the same time! There will be no more books to look forward to reading! I have been so hyped up about the "next" book for so long, that the idea of no more "Christmas Morning" anticipation for Harry Potter books will definitely bum me out! I have a feeling Harry will die. I have a feeling he will meet up with the people most important to him . . his Mom & Dad, Sirius & Dumbledore!

Harry Potter House Quiz

Help?!

How can a person be a Harry Potter fan & a Slytherin fan at the same time?! I recently read a blog, and learned that there are fans out there who are BIG Slytherin fans. I am clearly very naive or sheltered, because it never occurred to me that there were so many Slytherin fans out there! My opinion is that you can't be a fan of Harry & cheer for the Slytherins because all the Slytherins hate Harry! I can't imagine reading the books and cheering for Harry's demise! I am a HUGE Harry fan, and am reading the books for the umpteenth time. I tried to figure out how many times I have read them, and come up with at least 8, but probably more! Leave a comment, because I would love to hear your thoughts on this! If there are any Slytherins reading this blog, bring it on--explain yourselves! I am very curious about your feelings toward Harry, and your reasons for choosing Slytherin!

Update on Benny

I just learned that Dr. Mills told Brady that it was evident to her that Benny's body was beginning to shut down. She said that the muscle deterioration and the potty issues were signs that things weren't good for the little guy! I am feeling much better after hearing this, because I know that I didn't make a mistake! If Dr. Mills was confident I made a good choice, I can be OK with it!

Benny's Journey

Benny, I can sense that you're weary;
Grown tired of pain and strife.
And I'm certain as stars in the Heavens-
That you've come to the crossroads of life.

Benny, you must know that I love you...
And this moment for me is so hard.
But I swear to let go of you gently;
As I offer this prayer up to God:

Dearest Lord, you will see that he's fragile;
But so charming if given a chance.
He will follow your steps like a shadow-
And he doesn't just walk... he will PRANCE!

He has never been much for playing;
Maybe a game of tag now and then.
Yet he will curl up next to you in a heartbeat-
And beg for table scraps, that’s my Ben-Ben!

This little Dog is as tough as they come;
but I know he is scared & feeling alone.
Please pick him up and hold him tight,
And let him know that I’m all right!

Tribute to My Benny

I sent my little buddy to heaven today. It makes me so sad! I have had him since July of 1996 and life won't be the same without him. He was old and failing and I made the choice to end the pain and suffering he was experiencing. I knew it was time, when touching his frail little body made him cry out in pain. I stroked his little neck this morning when I got home from work and he cried out and ran and hid from me. I had hurt him in a tender touch, and I refused to allow that to continue to happen. Jaxon, Benny, Cheyenne and I all went up for a nap, and when we woke, I called Dr. Mills. She came to the house and compassionately administered a medication that put him into a deep sleep. It was the same medicine used to anesthesize animals prior to surgery. After that she stopped his little heart. The first medication was supposed to be given IM, but the little guy didn't even have enough muscle to inject the medicine into, so she had to inject into the small amount of subcutaneous tissue in his back leg. He went peacefully at home in our kitchen. I didn't have to take him to a vet clinic, so it wasn't as scarey for him as it could have been.
Benny has been there for me for almost 11 years. He was there when I hurt and was always good for a snuggle during a rough time. Cheyenne & Benny were my family for so many years, and got me through some really rough times. I hate that he is gone, but I know that keeping him here would not have been fair. Goodbye, Little Buddy! You are missed and will be in my heart forever!

Let It Snow!

.

Our weather forecast is for ice & snow. I really, really want snow, and lots of it! I could do without the ice that is forecast for Saturday, but I am really hoping for snow! I want to go sledding, and if I had lots of snow and lots of time, would have to build a couple of Calvin & Hobbes style snowmen! What do you like to do in the snow??
