Curious As A Cat

Another Great Meme borrowed from Dena

1) If you had to experience one trauma your mother has gone through so that you could better understand her, what would you choose?
Experiencing her childhood with my Grandmother as a mother would definitely make it easier to understand her. My Grandmother suffered childhood trauma that made it very hard for her to be loving & affectionate & it must have been hard to have her for a Mommy.

2) What is the most revolting combination of colors you can imagine? green & orange

3) If you could punish the most difficult person at your workplace, what would you do, and to whom? I don't work close enough with any co-workers to feel any way about them, but if a person really pisses me off, I would like them punished by getting a dose of their own medicine.

4) What is the thing you know the most about? me

Mourning the Loss

The Raiders played an awesome game last night, but ended up losing in the last few seconds of the game.  I am so much more upset about this loss than I have been over any of the losses for the last couple of years!  They worked hard last night and really had a chance to win that game!  GO RAIDERS! I am overjoyed that they are much improved!!

WOW!

Look at those sleeping angels!  They are sleeping in a bed by themselves . . . not in my bed!!!!  Yay for me!!

Blessings

It is important to count your blessings, and we have much to be thankful for today!  Last night, Brady's little chihuahua disappeared while we were at a fishfry.  She was gone all night, and miraculously appeared on our doorstep this morning.  She was muddy and tired, but in great health!  The only way that dog lived through the night was because of God's grace!  I am amazed that she wasn't eaten by a coyote, owl or other predator.  My prayers were answered.  My husband was devastated, and I am thankful that she is home!

The other exciting thing that happened at our house today is we were given a Little Tikes racecar bed for the boys!  They absolutely love this new bed and are both sleeping in it tonight!  This is the first night in at least 3 years that we won't have at least one little munchkin sleeping in our bed!  Yippee!!  With a little luck, this will continue!

Carb Cravings!

When I went to the doctor on Friday, I learned that this baby is growing WAY too fast!  Two weeks ago I measured 1cm too big and Friday I measured 2 cm too big!  Dr. Long decided that I needed to follow a diabetic diet just to be cautious.  IT IS KILLING ME!  I am craving anything that is a carb . . . pizza, cake, cookies, chips, bagels!  I will do whatever it takes to help this baby, but it is SO hard today!!!

Fortune Cookie

Here it is . . the answer to everybody's prayers! It is an online fortune cookie.
http://www.links2love.com/horoscope/fortune_cookies.htm

Check it out and come back and tell me what your fortune said. I am and have always been obsessed with fortune cookies. There have been many times that I opened fortune cookies until I got one that satisfied me. This time, I only tried it once, and my fortune was.

Joy comes from a long forgotten friend

This didn't tell me what I wanted to hear, but it was good all the same. The things I really want right now are mo $$, and a guarantee that I will get prego again when I want to. If it was as simple as a fortune cookie, I would buy a case of them and everybody's dreams would come true!!

Independent?!

I know the plans I have for you, declares the
Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm
you, plans to give you hope and a future."
Jeremiah 29:11

With a promise like that, why do we always insist on being independent in this life? Why is it so hard to give control to God, grow in Him and pursue a relationship with the one who loves us unconditionally and only wants us to succeed? Why is it so hard for us to accept the love He offers and to accept all the gifts He wants us to have?
I know that I have struggled with this so many times. It doesn't make sense, because when I start my day with prayer and by giving my life and all of my problems to Him, it always turns out better. I find that I have more patience with my incredible boys and am able to enjoy them so much more. I am more at peace with my life and think clearer. Life is so much easier when I don't insist on doing it on my own. What an incredible, awesome thing to be loved so much by one who is so much bigger than we can fathom! Life is better with God! Why deny it, when all He wants is to be with us? So simple, yet so hard to do!

Football Season

The NFL season has started!! I am ready for a football weekend!! Go Raiders!

Do you participate in Fantasy Football?

Rest & Relaxation

In an article I recently read, it suggested that Moms should get away for some rest and relaxation once a month. It talked about how being refreshed and doing things for yourself helps you to be a better Mom & wife. I totally agree with this theory, but there is a problem. From my calculations, my family owes me approximately 3 1/2 weeks of rest & relaxation. Now, if I can just find a sponsor, I can spend a couple weeks in Hawaii! Okay, so that is NEVER going to happen, but I really need a day away.

I have talked to my husband about this, and he assures me that a day of relaxation away from my boys is coming soon! I sure hope so, because I am in great need of some downtime!! I need a break from my active boys and dishes and the monotony of fixing meals & cleaning!! I am hoping that from now on I am able to get a few more days to myself a year! Anybody else have this problem? Please share!

More to Love

Is anybody following the show "More to Love" on Fox? I've watched every episode and am really excited to find out who Luke chooses next week! I admit, in the beginning that I was a little turned off by an excessive amount of focus on the size of the women but was still impressed that they chose a more typical type of woman to have on the show! I really like Luke and am cheering for him to find that lifelong partner that he desires.

Of the two women that are remaining, I personally think Tali is the better choice for Luke. She is classy, beautiful and really seems committed to him. She, like Luke, has a great career and seems to have the same values about family.

From the beginning, I really liked Malissa. She is a cute, likeable girl but I feel that she is all wrong for the star of this show. It is obvious that she really "likes" Luke, but I don't think she is capable of loving deep enough to have a successful marriage. She doesn't have a career and her family values are shakey at best. One thing that sticks out about Malissa is that she has NEVER babysat for her sister's kids. To me, this shows a very selfish side of Malissa, who doesn't have the close bonds with her family that Luke has with his family.

His choice has been made, but will be revealed next week. I hope for Luke's sake that he chose Tali. In Tali, he will find a life partner! In Malissa, he will find himself alone nursing a broken heart.

That's my opinion . . . . . now share yours! (leave a comment)

The United States of America

"There is no red state America, there is no blue state America; but there is a United States of America.""Americans...sent a message to the world that we have never been just a collection of individuals or a collection of red states and blue states. We are, and always will be, the United States of America."
"And to those Americans whose support I have yet to earn, I may not have won your vote tonight, but I hear your voices. I need your help. And I will be your president, too."--President Barack Obama

Why on earth are people complaining about the President of the United States of America giving a speech to school children about the importance of education? Whether or not you agree with the President's vision for America's future, he's the President!

Laura Bush agrees. "I think there is a place for the president ... to talk to schoolchildren and encourage" them, she said. Parents should follow his example and "encourage their own children to stay in school and to study hard and to try to achieve the dream that they have."

President Reagan gave a televised address to schoolchildren. So did President George H. W. Bush. (Watch them here.) Now Obama is going to do the same.

Here's the full text of Obama's planned speech, addressed to students in Kindergarten through twelfth grade. "And that's what I want to focus on today: the responsibility each of you has for your education. I want to start with the responsibility you have to yourself. Every single one of you has something you're good at. Every single one of you has something to offer. And you have a responsibility to yourself to discover what that is. That's the opportunity an education can provide." If you think it's appropriate for Presidents to be able to speak to schoolchildren about the importance of staying in school and working hard, let your school administrators know.

Patriots may disagree vehemently with various policy positions taken by politicians. But patriots respect the office of the Presidency.

If you, like me, want a shot of respectful, bipartisan patriotism, have another listen. And this, too:

"These are difficult times for our country, and I pledge to [President-Elect Obama] tonight to do all in my power to help him lead us through the many challenges we face.I urge all Americans who supported me to join me in not just congratulating him, but offering our next president our good will and earnest effort to find ways to come together, to find the necessary compromises, to bridge our differences, and help restore our prosperity, defend our security in a dangerous world, and leave our children and grandchildren a stronger, better country than we inherited.Whatever our differences, we are fellow Americans. And please believe me when I say no association has ever meant more to me than that."--Senator John McCain

Respect

I have a major complaint with the way some Republicans are treating the President of this country. I find their behavior appalling! My parents raised me to treat others with respect. They didn't teach me to respect only those people with whom I agree, but to respect all people! Until recently, I believed that this was the norm in our society. This is no longer the case! People are accusing our president of trying to brainwash our children, destroy our country and are calling him things that are far from respectful!

A lot of the people who are guilty of this behavior claim to be strong Christians! Where in the bible did Jesus teach this type of behavior. Even when Jesus was being tried by Pilate, he was respectful. The only harsh words he used against those he disagreed was hypocrite! I am saddened by the lack of respect in our country today. If people can't even show a little respect for our leaders, what is next? Has common courtesy and respect been replaced with judgmentalism and self-serving behaviors. JFK once said, "And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country. If we would all do more for each other and the country, instead of sitting back and bashing those who are trying to improve our country, we would all be better off!
Taking The Risk: Permission To Be Real

Most of us are familiar with the idea of keeping it real and have an intuitive sense about what that means. People who keep it real don’t hide behind a mask to keep themselves safe from their fear of how they might be perceived. They don’t present a false self in order to appear more perfect, more powerful, or more independent. People who keep it real present themselves as they truly are, the good parts and the parts most of us would rather hide, sharing their full selves with the people who are lucky enough to know them. Being real in this way is not an easy thing to do as we live in a culture that often shows us images of physical and material perfection. As a result, we all want to look younger, thinner, wealthier, and more successful. We are rewarded externally when we succeed at this masquerade, but people who are real remind us that, internally, we suffer. Whenever we feel that who we are is not enough and that we need to be bigger, better, or more exciting, we send a message to ourselves that we are not enough. Meanwhile, people who are not trying to be something more than they are walk into a room and bring a feeling of ease, humor, and warmth with them. They acknowledge their wrinkles and laugh at their personal eccentricities without putting themselves down. People like this inspire us to let go of our own defenses and relax for a moment in the truth of who we really are. In their presence, we feel safe enough to take off our masks and experience the freedom of not hiding behind a barrier. Those of us who were lucky enough to have a parent who was able to keep it real may find it easier to be that way ourselves. The rest of us may have to work a little harder to let go of our pretenses and share the beauty and humor of our real selves. Our reward for taking such a risk is that as we do, we will attract and inspire others, giving them the permission to be real too.

I used to believe that all people were inherently good, but I don't believe that anymore. There are some people that when they take off their mask and show the true person behind, are filled with evil and hatred. So, for some people it can be a very scarey thing when the mask comes off and the true persona underneath is revealed!

Fun Pics of the Boys

Here is Grandma driving the boys through the sprinklers on the golf cart! As you can see, they had a blast. Why run through the sprinkler, when Grandma is around to drive you through?!

Their favorite part of going to the mall! We take lots of pennies and they could spend hours throwing them in and watching the water. Of course, they always ask if they can get in!

The little Joys of being a Mom

This parenting stuff is a little crazy, to say the least! Last night, my boys were playing in the "bean" table in the kitchen while Brady & I were trying to watch a football game. All was good, they were quiet . . . . something wrong, there! YEP! They had started pouring water in their bean table . . .ugh what a mess! They were so proud of themselves, because they had made SOUP! Yep, soup! I'll admit, I didn't see soup when I looked into my kitchen and saw the flood, but the little monkeys were thrilled with what they had done! Too funny!

While putting Jaxon to bed, he wanted to talk about growing into a "big man" and he shared with me that when he is a "big man" He is going to be bigger than Daddy. He is also going to live with Grandma Judy (my Mom) and three of his cousins. I laughed! It was great!

This morning, Jaxon chose Giada over sprout and then watched with great interest as Giada made cookies, califlower and flatbread. I sure hope he keeps up with this! A man who can cook is always a good thing!

Meme-age

Of course I will post this! I love hand-made, just for me kind of stuff and I know Dawn is SUPER talented in so many ways!! HMMM. . . a Harry story, maybe a bracelet, a poem, she does so many things!!

The first five people to respond to this post will get something made by me. It will be about or tailored to those five lucky "victims."This offer does have some restrictions and limitations:- I make no guarantees that you will like what I make!- what I create will be just for you.- it'll be done this year- you have no clue what it's going to be or when its going to be. It may be fic. It may be poetry. I may draw or paint something. I may bake you something and mail it to you. Who knows? Not you, that's for sure!- I reserve the right to do something extremely strange. The catch? Oh, the catch is that you have to put this in your journal as well, if you expect me to do something for you!(D's note: You don't have to repost if you don't want to
